Self-hosting

Self-hosting is a long-running personal project: I operate a growing set of tools on my own VPS so that more of my search, source code, files, analytics and everyday utilities stay under my control.

I am passionate about self-hosting, privacy and European digital sovereignty. Owning more and more of my tools feels fun and rewarding, I love tinkering with my setup.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of what I self-host.

On a VPS:

• SearXNG for private search, alternative to google search.
• Forgejo git hosting, alternative to Github.
• Grist for online spreadsheets, alternative to notion/google sheets.
• BentoPDF for a full suite of PDF editing tools.
• RustFS for S3-compatible object storage, mostly to upload screenshots to share. Here is a screenshot of this portfolio.
• Image editor for simple edits to images (cropping and resizing).
• Bluesky PDS for hosting my own personal data server and social identity.

At home, I own a Synology NAS, which mostly started my self-hosting journey. Although I'd now prefer a fully custom Linux setup, Synology does offer great software too for google drive and photos alternatives.
